This is my third pair of the "patent" shiny kind. These are the truest fit like my old pairs of dansko's that lasted for 10 years. I have had 15 pairs of dansko's over my career of 22 years in health-care. The quality of dansko has gone down over the years. However these do the trick. My only complaint with the "patent" type is that they scuff easily. They don't look "pretty" for years, but the comfort is there. As aboveI’ve been having severe feet issues since I started working 11 hour days. These have saved my feet and back. They take some getting use to and in my case they ran large.I am surprised how much I love these shoes. I bought them for work but wear them all the time now. I had bought a pair years ago and they never fit right, so I decided to buy a size larger than what I wear now this time. They are loose enough that they can slide off easily (with just wiggling my foot.. no hands), but don’t feel like they are flopping around when walking. They are comfortable for 12 hour shifts and for walking around town. I wear them with and without socks and they are just as comfortable either way. I get compliments on the color all the time too. I’d definitely buy more of these in the future. So, before buying any dansko clogs, there are a few things you need to know- or you will not love your shoes. First, you need to order a size larger than you normally wear, there is supposed to be extra room. Second, these shoes need to be broken in, because they are made out of strong leather, and it can take a month to break them in, depending on how often you wear them. Also, my understanding is that they are hand made, that’s why identical pairs fit differently. Now with that being said, after ordering the correct size, and they are broken in- these will be the best most comfortable shoes you ever own. I got these shoes as part of my nursing school uniform. I was so excited when I got them, I made the mistake of wearing them on a double shift as a CNA. By the middle of my first shift I was cursing out my nurse friends for suggesting I get these clogs. They were tight, stiff and my feet were swollen. I was at work and had no other option but to ride it out. That’s when they told me about the break in period. By the end of my last shift I was taking turns standing on one foot to give the other a rest, like a flamingo! After that I would wear them when I ran errands or around the house. I slowly wore them more often and got through it. It was hard, I even offered people money to break them in for me! Now, i wear them everywhere all the time! When I buy another pair I will just take them to a cobbler to be broken in.Now, with that being said, I swear these shoes are the most comfortable shoes once they are broken in. I once had to walk home from nursing school, 8 miles, in these shoes. Not once did I have to stop, my feet felt better than if I had appropriate sneakers on. To the point I started doing my regular walking in them! These shoes will last forever and you will love them!! Just find a cobbler to stretch the leather. As a busy mom, I am on my feet most of the day. For several months I had been experiencing uncomfortable lower back stiffness. I finally figured out that it was caused by too much standing either barefoot or in poor shoes. I remembered how much I used to love these Dansko clogs from my prior life as a veterinary nurse, so I ordered a pair and started wearing them around the house. Voila! My lower back stiffness was cured in a day. I wear a size 9.5 in US womens and the size 40 fits perfectly. If you’ve never worn clogs before, they might take a little getting used to, but give them a chance and you won’t be disappointed (just don’t try to walk too fast in them or you’ll roll your ankle! They’re best for indoor use).I've worn Dansko clogs for 10 years. I'm aware that they have moved their factory to china after their contract with Sanita ended. The quality is still good. My first pair of Oiled clogs lasted roughly 6-7 years of heavy use. I loved them. I went with patent (shiny finish) clogs in both Sanita and Danskos. All of them cracked in the toe box where it bends at your toes. 3 pairs, all the same thing, cracked leather. I hesitantly went back to the oiled clogs and gave them 1 last try. When I removed them from the box I noticed how dry they were. This was the driest, thirstiest leather I have ever seen in my life. I grew up around horses and I'm very familiar with leather oiling, conditioning, etc. I broke out the only oil I had, just plain vegetable oil. I applied it to the clogs with a paper towel. It Sucked up so much oil!! I kept applying until it could not absorb anymore oil. FYI you can use any type of medium weight oil such as canola oil, olive oil or the traditional neets foot oil for leather. leather conditioner is not enough, you need to use oil. I had a realization with the patent leather shoes. They are most likely using this same bone dry leather that they use for the oiled leather and then slap the patent finish on top. If you leave leather in that dry of a state, it will crack! So far these have been awesome and are working great. They have good arch support. They are a little wider than the Sanita clogs but not too wide. You don't' have to wear thick socks to make these stay on your feet. Remember you should be able to get a pinky width space between your heel and the back of the clog and your foot should slightly lift up out of the back of the clog.I bought these shoes supposedly new but compared two sets of the same shoes brand new and these look significantly more worn. DisappointingNeeded to quickly help stretch it A pinch but they are perfect. 2 weeks ish to get used to. Love them ... my third pair in 15 ish years.Edit: January 2019.... I've had these less than a year... how is there already a hole. Either the quality of your shoes has really been lost. A pair of these clogs usually last me 3 to 5 years. I'm really disappointed. I save up for these. For 164$ it should last longer. I've worn this brand clogs for years.Beautiful shoe. I have had them before and wore them out. I would highly recommend to people who need a rigid shoe. They are hard and built for stability. They are extremely comfortable. Good for people who need a harder bottom shoe. I have hallux rigidus - my big toe cannot move. A flexible shoe is excruciatingly painful. This shoe is built for those who work on their feet or who have developed issues from being on their feet.I have purchased Dansko shoes from the actually retailer before and was able to get a good fit. I ordered the same size thinking it would fit the same but these shoes are snug on the tops of my feet. I was disappointed in the finish as the have already started to show signs of wear after a month and a half. This is my third pair of Danskos in 15 years. I will never wear anything else for Nursing. Normally wear a 38 Regular width but this time I couldn’t get my foot in them. Easily exchanged for a 38 wide and have no regrets.Really wanted these to fit! But they were too small. Sent back.
